UCR Consultants are an independent utility broker providing competitive rates for over 40,000 customers and work with all the major suppliers as well as challengers and new entrant suppliers.
Established in 2009, the business had grown rapidly with 50 staff and a turnover of £10m+. They had key objectives focused on both growth and profit.
The Challenge
UCR Consultants required a General Manager to support their growth and allow their Managing Director to take a more strategic approach in relation to group level objectives across his additional businesses. The role required the candidate to help diversify their sales mix as well as enhance their digital presence. A concern for the Managing Director was the lack of talent in the energy broker market and whether talent outside of energy would be able to understand the business to allow him to take a step back.
